About Me
Mezzo-soprano Giulia Diomede was born in Trani, Italy.
She studied acting at the “Accademia del Drama Antico” in Siracusa/Sicily and completed her opera singing studies at the Giuseppe Tartini Conservatory in Trieste in 2023.
From 2019 to 2020, she perfected herself at the Opera School of the Coccia Theater in Novara under the direction of Paoletta Marrocu and in 2021 at the Rodolfo Celletti Belcanto Academy under the direction of Alberto Triola. Meanwhile, she graduated with top grades in ancient classical literature at the University of Bari and then specialized in performing arts and multimedia production at the same university. Leading performer in several world premieres: role of Mother and Witch in “Ami and Tami” by Màtti Kovler, role of Hecuba in “Cassandra, in you slept a dream” by Marco Podda at Teatro Coccia in Novara, role of Gorizia in “Root Position Distance” by Sara Caneva and role of Female Doprkeeper in “Before the Law” by M. Zerovnik. In 2023 she made her debut as Azucena in Verdi's “Il Trovatore” at the Teatro Coccia in Novara under the direction of Antonello Allemandi and directed by Dede Cristina Colonna and at the Teatro Sociale in Rovigo under the direction of Francesco Rosa. She sang also Azucena in Taranto Opera Festival in 2023. This was followed by the role of Fenena in Nabucco at the Teatro Coccia in Novara. She sang the roles of Polina and the Governess in “Queen of Spades” conducted by Valentin Egel and directed by Christian Romanowski at the HNK Theater in Rijeka.
She sang the leading role of Fortunio (en travesti) in M. Podda's L'oro del diavolo at the Ridotto of the Teatro Lirico Giuseppe Verdi in Trieste. In 2023, he also made his debut in the 5th concert of the Symphonic Season of the Teatro Verdi in Trieste as Soprano II in Luciano Berio's Magnificat, conducted by Ayrton Desimpelaere, and as mezzo-soprano soloist in the opening concert of the 2023/2024 Academic Year of the Tartini Conservatory of Trieste in Scriabin's Symphony No. 1, Op. 26, at the Politeama Rossetti in Trieste and at the Teatro Zancanaro in Sacile.
In 2024 she sang the role of Suzuki for La Spezia Lirica Festival for the world premiere performance on the aircraft carrier Garibaldi, directed by Paolo Panizza and conducted by Stefano Giaroli. Recently she sang Rosina/Barbiere and Amneris – Aida in concert form. In 2025 she sang the role of the Suora Zelatrice in "Suor Angelica" at the Teatro Verdi in Trieste ( Conductor Francesco Ivan Ciampa - Director Pier Francesco Maestrini) and in summer 2025 the role of Amneris in "Aida" in Switzerland. In march she will sing the role of Adalgisa at Taranto Opera Festival and in August the role of Ulrica in Switzerland.
Winner of Third Prize at the Marmo International Opera Competition at the Carrara Opera House in 2025. Winner of Third Prize at the Mattia Battistini International Opera Competition in Rieti and the role of Santuzza in 2024. Finalist in several international opera competitions, including the Voci Mascagnane International Competition in 2023, the Bellano International Singing Competition in 2022, and the Spazio Musica Opera Competition in 2021.
